2011:
The UN sanctions North Korea over another Nuclear Missile test.
2012:
The current leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-il, dies.
He is replaced by his son, Kim Jong-un.
2013:
Kim Jong-un reunifies Korea, creating the Greater Korean Republic.
As a result, he wins a Nobel Peace Prize, and is featured
as Time Magazine's Man of the Year.
2014:
The American Armed Forces leave the Korean Peninsula,
and General Motors goes bankrupt for the second time.
2015:
Due to a war between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as well as Russia halting
it's exportation of oil, the price of gas surges to $20 per gallon.
Meanwhile, the Survivalist genre of literature becomes a
best-seller in the U.S.
2016:
Due to the Economy destabilizing, the U.S. navy withdrawals
from Eastern Asia. Texas secedes from the Union, leading citizens
from surrounding states to attempt to enter it.
Bloody border conflicts occur as a result of this.
2017:
As the U.S. infrastructure continues to crumble,
Martial law is declared throughout the U.S.
2018:
Under the threat of war, Japan surrenders to the GKR,
and proceeds to become a vassal state.
2019:
The United Nations crumbles as the world's economies collapse.
2020:
Canada closes its borders to the U.S.
2021:
The GKR conquers many Eastern Asian nations.
In the U.S., a new illness known as the Knoxville Cough
begins spreading throughout the country.
2022:
Mexico closes its borders to the U.S.
2023:
The Knoxville Cough turns into a serious pandemic, and ravages
the United States. Meanwhile, the Korean People's Army bottoms
out at 20 million personnel.
2024:
The GKR launches satellites, claiming to bring a message
of peace to the world.
2025:
The Satellites that the GKR turn out to be Electromagnetic pulse
weapons, crippling U.S. electronics, allowing the KPA to take over
Hawaii, land troops in San Francisco, and scatter Paratroopers
all over the Central U.S. The invasion of the United States has begun.
2026:
In order to split the U.S. in half, the KPA irradiate the
Mississippi River, and occupy the Western Half of the U.S.
2027:
By this time, the U.S. Armed Forces have now been completely
scattered. The events of Homefront begin in this year.
